I had never been in hospital or had any form of surgery. I was therefore terrified of having this operation. From the first day I met him, Mr. Birdi put me at ease and explained everything about the surgery and recovery. I chose the Orwell Suite for my surgery. The standard of care was incredible and all the staff there are amazing day and night. I was fully informed about my surgery.
Following the operation I had very little pain, just mild discomfort from wires and tubes etc. However within a few days these were removed and I was starting to get up and out of bed. I do actually know someone who had the full open heart version of the operation just a year before me, he had considerably more post operative pain and comparing the two operations I would advocate the keyhole version.
On my return home, I did find that I was easily tired but after a couple of weeks this improved and I was able to do a lot more. Within a couple of months I was back to normal, feeling really good and returning to work. Overall, I would say that if you have the opportunity to have Mr. Birdi and his team you are in safe hands and guaranteed excellent care.
